Former Ikhwan Commander Papa Kishtwari dies

Srinagar, Nov 5: Former Ikhwani Commander, Papa Kishtwari, who was accused of murdering many civilians died at a hospital here today.
Ghulam Mohammad Lone alias Papa Kishtwari alias Mumma Lone died at police hospital Srinagar where he was taken from central jail today. He was unwell for quite some time and was undergoing regular checks up.
He suffered a massive heart attack and died of cardiac arrest. He was arrested for murder and was jailed for last several years.
He was currently in Central Jail Srinagar in a case where he and his associates were accused of having murdered a contractor Ali Mohammad Mir from Brain Nishat, in broad daylight.
Kishtiwari used to operate in South Kashmir, where villagers accused him of extra-judicial killings during his reign as an Ikhwani commander.
Ghulam Muhammad Lone alias Papa Kishtwari worked as a watchman in a factory in Pampore before becoming a counter insurgent.
