REASI, May 29: A major fire broke out in the hills near Salal Dam along the Chenab River, damaging forest vegetation and bushes, here today.
Acting swiftly, Fire and Forest Department teams launched a joint operation and brought the blazes largely under control after hours of efforts. Authorities claimed that continue monitoring of vulnerable spots was being made to prevent further spread of forest fire.
Forest officer Siddharth Dubey said that they received a message from an NGO around 4 pm regarding the fire and acting swiftly, their team reached the spot by 4:15 pm and launched successful operation to control the blazes.
