JAMMU, Feb 1: As work for the Census 2021 has begun, the Government today allocated Rs 4,568 crore under the Census Surveys and Statistics head in the budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament.
The house listing phase of the Census and the National Population Register will be carried out from April 1 to September 30, 2020.
The Census will have its reference date as March 1, 2021, but for snow-bound Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, it will be October 1, 2020.
The Union Cabinet has already approved Rs 3,941.35 crore for the NPR exercise.
