Food & Allied Workers Union appeals Governor to redress issues

JAMMU, Jan 28: Food and Allied Workers Union has appealed the Governor to redress the issues at the earliest.
In a statement issued, Bishan Dass, President, Food and Allied Workers Union condemned the indifferent attitude of the concerned authorities in resolving their burning issues.
He added that efforts are being made to sabotage the ongoing strike on mere false promises without any concrete step in right direction.
Referring to a meeting held with Secretary CAPD, Dass stated that the minutes circulated by the Director CAPD, Jammu at the instance of the Secretary CAPD failed to redress all the grievances of the workers. Instead of formulating and taking concrete steps, an effort has been made again to delay the matter by adopting a delaying approach which is not acceptable to the workers at all, he added.
While circulating the minutes of the meeting regarding timely release of wages, it is unthinkable to take action against Assistant Director when there is no flow of funds to his office from the higher authorities to meet the wage bill. Similarly the issue of revision of loading and unloading charges pending since 2012 as per price index is again delayed providing for a so called Committee to be constituted to examine the same, he said.
In view of the financial implications already worked out in terms of letter and in view of the concurrence by the Finance Department to the proposal, there is no need of any further Committee for the said purpose. Similarly all other issues are also dealt with casually which is not accepted by the workers, Dass maintained.
In view of the position explained, Bishan Dass rejected the minutes of the meeting and termed these as just an eyewash. He appealed the Governor to redress their grievances.
