SVC summons Custodian General

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 28: While taking strong note of encroachments and illegal constructions raised over Evacuee land allegedly by some prominent persons in connivance with officers/officials of Custodian Department Jammu, State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has summoned Custodian General.
Earlier, while taking cognizance of a complaint by Sudesh Dogra in connection with misappropriation of evacuee properties by way of encroachments and illegal constructions made by one sitting Parliament Member (J&K) and other influential persons on Evacuee land at village Thalora, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur, leased to them merely for agricultural purposes, but  have raised shopping complexes and other concrete structures in utter violation of provisions of the J&K Evacuees (Administration of Property) Act, svt., 2006,  in connivance and conspiracy with officers/officials of the Custodian Department, State Vigilance Commission sought Action Taken Report from Custodian Evacuee Property, Jammu, in this regard.
The report along with some other connected documents submitted by the Custodian Department before the Commission, prima-facie revealed lack of sincerity and commitment on part of officers/officials of the Custodian Department, who instead of taking  any action under rules against the encroachers, have protected their skin by moulding the policy guidelines, circulars and rules framed thereto, applicable on the subject, in a way lacking transparency.
SVC taking serious note of the issue, has summoned the Custodian General with the direction to appear before the Commission to explain the policy guidelines, circulars and rules, as quoted by him in different documents submitted before the Commission.
