JAMMU, Sept 16: Industrial Sector of Jammu and Kashmir is not the part and parcel of any organization who gave bandh call on Lakhanpur toll tax issue.
This was stated by Rajesh Jain, Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu during a meeting, here today. The meeting was also attended by Lalit Mahajan, Vijay Aggarwal, Romesh Badyal, Ajit Bawa, Jatinder Aul (Co-Chairmen), Ravi Malgooria, President, Association of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Udhampur, Ajay Langer Secretary General, SB Abrol Convener, Sandeep Mittal, Suresh Mahajan, Vivek Singhal, Viraaj Malhotra, Ratesh Mahajan and other executive committee members of the Federation.
During the course of discussions, the members present in the meeting raised serious concern in respect of repeated attempts of some vested interest people who are bent upon to destroy the Industrial Sector of J&K by raising for their voice for the removal of toll tax at Lakhanpur with their ill full design to allow the import and export of unaccounted goods in and from the State which may be resulting huge financial loss to the State exchequers as well as to the Industrial Sector of J&K which are working in our States in spite of all the odds.
The members stated that toll tax at Lakhanpur is a safeguard for the Industrial Sector of J&K to check the import and export of unaccounted goods, contraband and other banned items to and fro from other parts of the country and if the Government withdraw the toll tax, the whole State will be flooded with the uncounted goods and other related material which will prove as death nail for the Industrial Sector of the State.
It was strongly endorsed in the meeting that Government should not remove toll tax check post at Lakhanpur with the toll exemptions should be continued in GST regime to the existing as well as new industrial units to compensate the additional transportation cost on the raw materials and finished goods.
FoIJ appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb A Drabu and Industries Minister Chander Parkash to intervene into the matter to ensure that the toll tax at Lakhanpur should be continued for the safeguard of J&K industrial sector.
