JAMMU, Aug 27 : The management of Salal Power Station has appealed the people of district Reasi in general and those living in down and up-stream villages not to venture near Chenab banks on August 28 and 29 in view of periodical flushing of the dam.
As per a notice, the public of district Reasi in general and people of upstream villages Dharan, Thanpal, Arnas Sai, Lanjan, Narloo, Gari,Salmot and villages in downstream, Gujjar Kothi, Saidh Baba, Bidda, Kachhi Khera. Talwara, Nambla, Vijaypur, Baradan, Patta. Kanasi Patta, Jedhi Panasa, Bhabber, Chumdian. Dera Baba Banda Bhadur, Seri etc have been asked not venture near the river bank from August 28 to 8 am on August 29 in view of statutory periodical silt flushing from the reservoir of Salal Power Station.
With the opening of gates of the dam, there will be increase in flow of water and level of river Chenab may increase. As such, movement of men, vehicles and pets along the river bank during this period is not advisable.
