Priya reviews progress on Jammu Ropeway project

JAMMU, Aug 27: Government has mooted a plan to develop supplementary tourist attractions at halt points of upcoming Jammu Ropeway project.
The plan envisages constructing commercial cottages at Shahabad halt point, food courts, ampi-theater, viewing deck and other attractions at the Mahamaya halt point.
This was disclosed at a meeting chaired by Minister of State for Tourism and Parks, Priya Sethi convened to review the progress on phase one of the Jammu Ropeway project spanning from Mubarak Mandi to Bahu (Shahabad) via Mahamaya.
During the meeting, the Minister took detailed account of the proposed tourist infrastructure development plans at the ropeway halt points. She studied the plans for construction of commercial cottages at Shahabad, and other supplementary infrastructure at various halt points. She asked the Tourism Department and J&K State Cable Car Corporation Ltd to explore further possibilities to incorporate more tourism attraction activities in the plan.
She said inclusion of more tourist attraction activities in the plan would provide the visiting tourists with an array of options while enjoying the ropeway ride.
Meanwhile, Priya Sethi took part in the patriotic songs festival organised by Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK) at K.L Saigal Hall.
The patriotic song festival where the participants were mostly teachers of rural and urban schools of Jammu district was organised to remember and honour the sacrifices made by women in India’s freedom struggle and celebrate the success of female athletes who brought laurels to the nation at Rio Olympics 2016.
Priya Sethi, while addressing the gathering highlighted the contribution of women at various levels of social set up. She asserted that strengthening and empowerment of women folk will ultimately lead to strengthening of nation.
The Minister said that Government is committed towards growth of the State with special attention on education, tourism, culture and is working consistently to meet this goal. With these diligent efforts, Jammu now has a functional IIT and IIM is scheduled to come up soon. The Government is also working to put Jammu on the State’s tourist map alongside Kashmir.
Priya Sethi also appreciated the contribution of VKK for women empowerment, education of slum children and promotion of arts.
The Advisor VKK Rita Jitender and President VKK Rai Bharti thanked the Minister for her active contribution towards the social causes.
