JAMMU, Apr 14: Various organisations celebrated the 128th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at different places across the region and paid floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution today.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) organised a mega function at party headquarters at Narwal Pain, Satwari in Jammu under the chairmanship of Charanjeet Chargotra, (State vice president of BSP), where hundreds of party workers from all over the province assembled and greeted the people. Day long deliberations were held on the life history of this great social reformer and architect of Indian Constitution.
Speakers threw light on the achievements of Dr Ambedkar and appealed all sections of society to follow his ways. Terming Dr Ambedkar a great philosopher and social reformer, speakers appreciated for his contribution to the eradication of caste system without violence and bloodshed. He was a great economist, thinker and planner.
Pradesh Congress Committee has paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratan Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.
While paying floral tributes to the father of Indian Constitution, chief spokesperson JKPCC Ravinder Sharma described him as one of the towering personalities of modern India who will always be remembered for his outstanding contribution for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in this country.
He remembered the contribution of Dr Ambedkar during freedom struggle and post independence era and said that Indian Constitution formed under his chairmanship is one of the best document in the world which takes care of the aspirations of the largest pluralistic society in the world.
The State unit of BJP celebrated birth anniversary of the Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr Ambedkar at New Rehari, Dogra Hall and headquarters of Mahasha Sadar Sabha.
BJP State incharge IT & Social Department, Jaidev Rajwal took part in all the functions and paid floral tributes to Ambedkar and threw light on his life journey and teachings he had imparted among countrymen. Hundreds of people who participated in the functions.
While speaking Rajwal recalled that Dr Ambedkar, a widely read scholar and exceptional legal celebrity, had made priceless role to the framing of the Indian Constitution. “Bhimrao fought his way through the entrenched oppression of belonging to a lower-caste family to become a lawyer, political leader, economist, torch-bearer of the anti-caste movement and one of India’s greatest liberal, intellectual thinkers.
All J&K Kabir Sabha paid rich tribute to the father of the Indian Constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary today at Kabir Bhawan, Chak Avtara, Bishnah.
The president of the Sabha, FC Bhagat described Dr Ambedkar as symbol of knowledge and champion of social justice to the Dalit Samaj. Dr Ambedkar, commonly known as Babasaheb, dedicated his life in working for the upliftment of untouchables, women, and labourers. He also campaigned against the social discrimination of Dalits and inspired the Dalit Buddhist Movement.
Senior members GL Bhagat, Yash Pal Bhagat, Tarsem Lal, Tilak Raj Verma, Daya Ram, Ravi Kumar, Sewa Ram, TR Dogra and Manohar Lal Karlopia also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of people from different walks of life thronged Polo Ground Leh today to celebrate the birthday of Ambedkar. Hundreds of students and the people took part in the celebration of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and took part in a huge procession.
Renowned physician Dr Tserng Norboo, who was recently conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri Award for his contribution in the field of health over the decades, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Calling Dr Ambedkar the father of the Constitution of India, Dr Norboo informed that he had advised Parliamentarians and legislatures to follow what is enshrined in the Constitution of India to implement the spirit of the constitution. Expressing happiness on seeing hundreds of students participating in the celebration, he said the life of Dr Ambedkar is an inspiration for the students because he had gone through lots of struggles in life and achieved success.
President, Ladakh Buddhist Association Tsewang Thinless, president, Ladakh Gonpa Association Gelong Shatup Champa and president, LBA Youth Wing Konchok Ishey also spoke on the occasion.
Besides leaders and representatives from political parties, religious leaders including president Anjuman Immamia Ashraf Ali Barcha, president Anjuman Mon-ul-Islam Dr Abdul Qayum and representative Christian Association David Sonam were also present on the occasion.
‘Homage to Dr Ambedkar on his birth anniversary’ was organised by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations. A bike rally was flagged off by State president of Confederation R K Kalsotra and Padamshree SP Verma at 10.30 AM at Ambedkar Park, Resham Ghar to Ambedkar Chowk, Rail Head Jammu.
Majority of participants were youth from Jammu who with full enthusiasm took part in the rally.
A blood donation camp was organised by Power Grid, Regional headquarters, Northern Region Transmission System-II, as a tribute to Dr Ambedkar today. The camp was organised by POWERGRID in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital. Remembering Dr Ambedkar, floral tributes were paid by employees and his family members to Baba Saheb. A book on Constitution of India was also distributed to all the employees of RHQ, Jammu. Mementoes as a token of appreciation and gratitude were given to all the donors.
The people from Udhampur also celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedker with enthusiasm. A large number of the people gathered at Guru Ravi Dass Temple. A rally was organized which started from Guru Ravi Dass Temple and culminated at Mini Stadium, Udhampur by passing through Domail, Dhar Road, Barrian, Salathia Chowk, Court Road, Ramnagar Chowk, Mukerjee Bazar, Gole Market, Dabbar and City Light Chowk.
At Mini Stadium a public address was organized in which speakers threw light on the contribution of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar who prepared Constitution of India.
All J&K Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Welfare Forum, Jammu celebrated birthday of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Guru Ravi Dass Complex, Rajpura/Shakti Nagar here today. Tributes were paid by the gathering to the Father of the Indian Constitution.
Dalit leaders including president Ashok Jogi, Ramesh Angurana, Dev Anand Gill, Vijay Magotra, Tarsem Loach and Vijay Loach spoke on the occasion and threw light on the life and history and contributions of Dr Ambedkar for the up-liftment of the Dalit Samaj. Several other leaders were also present on the occasion.
To commemorate the day, JKRCEA district unit Kathua along with socio-religious wings, unemployed youth, women and retired wing organised a bike rally that started from Kalibari and after passing through bazaar, it finally culminated at GRD Gurudwara, Bagial. The rally was an impressive and peaceful show attended by thousands of people. It was led by Dr C R Munday, P K Chouhan, Dr Haridyal, Loknath, Romesh Kumar and Avinash Tajotra.
On culmination of the rally, the speakers threw light on life and mission of Babasaheb. Dr Sanjay Bhasin, while speaking on the occasion, said that Babasaheb Ambedkar and his thoughts have become a phenomenon in itself in Indian social, religious, economic as well as political realms.
Shree Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre New Plot Jammu also celebrated birthday of Dr Ambedkar and paid floral tributes to the architect of Indian Constitution, in a function held under the leadership of Balwant Kataria and Joginder Angotra.
National Development Organisation in a function held at Rajouri also paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar.
