Srinagar, Dec 9: All Jammu Kashmir Shikara Workers today sought a package from Government of India and threatened agitation if their demand is not accepted.
President of the Union, Ghulam Ahmad Gotu said there is nothing for the Shikara Workers in the recently announced Rs 80, 000 crore package by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We have been shattered due to devastating floods of 2014 because the deluge kept tourists away from the Valley. We were hopeful that there would be something for us in the package announced by Modi but we have been left disappointed,” he said.
Gotu sought a package for the Shikara workers and said if the Government gives cold shoulder to their demand they will hit streets. “In first, we are holding a seminar on Sunday which would be attended by hundreds of Shikara workers. There in the seminar we will raise our demand for package,” he said.
“If the Government didn’t accept our demand then we would be left with no options but hit streets and agitate. We will block Boulevard for the connectivity and Government would be responsible for the consequences,” he warned.
