RAMBAN, May 14: Police here today solved a blind theft case and arrested five thieves besides recovering stolen things from them.
A case was registered in FIR No. 01/2026 at Police Station Ramsoo after which cops under the Investigating Officer PSI Amreek Singh and under the supervision of SHO Ramsoo, Inspector Fareed Ahmed apprehended five locals identified as Qadoos Ahmed, son of Mohd Maroof, resident of Kunfer Chanderkote; Shabir Ahmed, son of Firoz Din, resident of Maitra Ramban; Naseer Ahmed, son of Hakam Din, resident of Kunfer Chanderkote; Sahir Sajad, scrap dealer, son of Sajad Hussain, resident of Kunfer Chanderkote and Gulam Ali, son of Noora, resident of Dhalwas Ramban.
The gang was involved in the theft of a large quantity of copper wire from Khooni Nallah area and had also looted the donation box of a temple.
Investigation by Police led to the recovery of stolen copper wire, insulation material and cash amounting to Rs. 1,00,000 from the accused persons.
Officials further said that investigation also established a financial trail of the stolen proceeds and led to the seizure of an auto with registration number JK14J-8492 allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta said that investigation in the was underway.
