JAMMU, Jan 3: The victims of Pakistan firing in Samba and Hiranagar sectors have urged the Government of India to ensure everlasting peace along the border so that they could live peacefully and without any fear.
“We are continuously living under fear and terror. No one knows when Pakistan will start firing. It has become difficult for us to attend to our cattle and work in the fields. So it has become imperative to find out a permanent solution to establish peace along border areas and we urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take initiative in this regard”, said an attendant of Pawan Kumar (29) son of Gurdas Chand, a resident of border Village Bainglarh of Samba district, who was admitted in emergency ward of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu after being injured in Pakistan shelling.
Pawan said he received injuries in his left hand, as a mortar splinter hit his hand early this morning, when he along with his neighbour, Neetu Ram Sharma (36) son of Labu Ram, were going to attend their cattle, which were grazing at some distance from their residence. Neetu Ram also received injuries in his right leg and was undergoing treatment at GMCH.
Talking to Excelsior, two sisters Madhu Bala (40) wife of Pawan Kumar, resident of Amritsar and Rajni Devi (30) wife of Prem Kumar, a resident of Hiranagar, who got serious injuries in their legs, said “Enough is enough, how long will we bear Pakistan bullets and mortar shells. What is the fault of ours? It has become difficult for women to do household chores and even attend to nature’s call, as there are no toilets in villages and the people have to go in the fields. We had voted Narendra Modi with the hope that he will give a strong Government at the Centre that will check these ceasefire violations along border. We still hope the Central Government will take some strong steps in the coming days to ensure that no ceasefire violations take place and peace prevails in border areas”.
Both said they had come to their parental house (Village Chan Lalen in Hiranagar) to see their ailing old mother to help her in her household works but now the ailing mother was attending them. What’s an irony, they expressed.
Both the sisters had gone to attend nature’s call in the fields and were washing hands in the premises of their house when a mortar shell fell near their boundary wall which separates their house with their neighbours.
Besides them, their 9 year old nephew, Mohit Kumar son of Vijay Kumar was also injured and received serious injuries in abdomen. Their neighbour Ranjana Devi (32) wife of Ashok Kumar who was doing household chores in her house also received injuries in her stomach and left leg.
Others injured in Pakistan firing and undergoing treatment at GMCH were Naresh Bandral (17) son of Multan Singh, a resident of village Nawnchak in Hiranagar, Rahul (13) son of Som Raj, a resident of village Mangu Chak in Samba district.
