Firing for fun triggers panic, 3 friends arrested

UDHAMPUR, Jan 12:  Panic gripped Battal Ballian  area, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station when a group of three friends opened fire with a licensed pistol of one of them, here late last night.
Acting swiftly, Police arrested the trio and also seized  the pistol as well as  their Scorpio vehicle.
The incident took place around 10.40 p.m. on Monday outside Singh Dhabha, near Bhim Singh College of Education, Battal Ballian. The three friends, namely Sourav Sharma, son of Sudershan Sharma of Barrian, Roxy Sharma , son of Tilak  Raj Sharma of Indra Nagar and Rohit  Sharma, son of Sudershan Sharma of Adarsh Colony Udhampur,  were meeting  after a long time. Roxy Sharma, who was having a licensed pistol of 0.76 mm with him,  displayed the same to his friends and one of them,  in an  excitement,   opened three rounds of fire  in air.  Though the fire did not harm anyone, a panic gripped  the area thus inviting a quick Police action.
Even as a case in this regard was registered, under Section 336, 334 and 160 RPC, at Police action Udhampur, the arrested youth were reportedly bailed out today.
