Srinagar, Mar 13: At least four residential houses were damaged during an overnight blaze that ravaged the Pathar Masjid area here today.
According to officials, four residential houses, consisting of two four-storeyed and two three-storeyed structures, were engulfed in flames due to an electric short circuit.
The fire, exacerbated by GCI sheet roofing, swiftly spread through the attic portions, severely damaging the roofing, ceilings, doors, windows, and household goods on the second and third floors of the two four-storeyed houses.
Similarly, officials stated that the first and second floors of the other two three-storeyed houses suffered partial damage to roofing, ceiling, doors, windows, and household items.
“Additionally, the heat, smoke, and water from the inferno indirectly damaged the front side windows of an adjacent residential property,” officials added.
Fire stations in S.H. Pora, M.R.Gunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Gowkadal, Babademb, and Nowshara areas were summoned to the scene to extinguish the flames.
The officials informed that one firefighter, identified as Reyaz Ahmad, sustained a minor injury to his left leg during firefighting operations.
“He was promptly transferred to the Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar for further medical attention.”
