Fire breaks out at chicken shop

UDHAMPUR, June 10: Several poultry birds were roasted alive as fire broke out at a chicken shop near the Transport Yard Omara, here today .
The incident took place around 4 pm at the chicken shop owned by Rajinder Singh, son of Bhochal Singh. Even as CRPF personnel from 137 Bn and Udhampur Fire Station team soon reached the spot and the fire was controlled, around 40 poultry birds were burnt alive and the shop got completely gutted in the fire.
Meanwhile, another incident of fire took place at Shiv Nagar, Ward number 11 at the same time when an electric pole caught fire because of some fault and apparent overheating of the system. The fire was controlled soon and the power was also restored by 7 pm, said an official.
