How, in the absence of a responsive and prompt administration, can the dream of ensuring planned development of major towns of the State come true, is the moot question when basic fundamentals like even the paper work, professional inputs, deadlines , inviting suggestions or even objections and revisions are treated casually. We are led to believe that such an approach has led to non finalization of Kathua Master plan.
We understand that an exercise to this effect was started nearly four years back but till now, nothing appears to have been recorded as having reached up to some levels whereby we could feel that it was not that far. What is the ‘itinerary’ of the Housing and Urban Development Department in this respect , even this much is not known. Searching on the website about the draft in itself, one generates a flak for the tall claims of the administration as it is nowhere to be found there. Fast growth of our towns and cities and that also in non planned and haphazard way has got to be addressed only by professional and systematic manner and the Master Plans are the answers. One can visualise that looking to the inordinate delay in finalizing the Plan, by these “standards” , how many decades would it take to the State administration in executing of the works. We understand that the said draft in its preparation had reached up to the stage of inviting suggestions and objections from the public but thereafter the entire process is left to gasping and heaving as having been virtually abandoned. We urge the concerned authorities to take the call in the matter and resolve the same on priority.
