FICCI FLO signs MoU with JKTPO for promoting women entrepreneurship

JAMMU, Aug 18: FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh (JK&L) Chapter today signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jammu Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) to promote women entrepreneurship in the region.
FICCI FLO is the premier industry association for women in India and one of the largest business chambers in southeast Asia while JKTPO is the flagship Government organization setup for promoting trade and commerce in the region. The MoU was signed virtually between Ritu Singh, Chairperson FICCI FLO JK&L and Ankita Kar (IRAS), Managing Director JKTPO in the presence of Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary, J&K Industries and Commerce and the JKTPO team.
The far-reaching MoU envisages collaboration across multiple areas, most notably creating awareness among women regarding different enabling policies and schemes by the Government, promoting women entrepreneurship and professional excellence through capacity building programs, launching skilling initiatives in areas such as retail, healthcare, handloom, arts and crafts, IT, hospitality, beauty and wellness among others and finally organizing buyer/sellers meets to support women entrepreneurs in the region.
FICCI FLO JK&L shall also enable the leveraging of its vast business network for women entrepreneurs in the region and bring in their knowledge partners to support the vision of the JKTPO, with their recently launched ‘Hausla’ program for women entrepreneurs across Jammu & Kashmir.
Ankita Kar, while speaking on the occasion, hoped that the MoU with FICCI FLO JK&L shall translate to meaningful outcomes at the ground level while Ritu Singh set the context for the collaboration by stating, “I raise my voice not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard.” She also shared her vision document for the JK&L chapter. She ended her address with a short poem on women empowerment.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, expressed satisfaction at the increasing number of women leaders both in public and private enterprises in the region and wished that the MoU paves the way for many more such partnerships in future.
The other office bearers from JKTPO who attended the event included Munir Ahmad Bhat General Manager, Mukesh Thappa General Manager, Obaid Riyaz Deputy General Manager, Chaitanya Sharma Manager Operations, Avi Gupta Executive, Gunjika Executive, Suhail from E&Y and the office bearers from FICCI FLO JK&L included Varuna Anand, Senior Vice Chair, Esther William, Vice Chair, Ritika Trehan, Executive Secretary and Ruchika Gupta, Treasurer.
