FFRC asks pvt schools to raise transport fee by 12%

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: The Government today ordered the private schools to make an increase of 12% in the transport fee across J&K.
In an order issued here, the Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee of Private Schools J&K (FFRC) said that the increase will be to what was being paid by the students availing transport facility in Oct-2019 in winter zone and Feb- 2020 in summer Zone.
“This hike will be operative from the date of re-opening of schools vide orders supra,” FFRC said.
The FFRC also said that no school shall seek any type of undertaking from the parents/students for advance payment of Tuition fee, transport fee or any other fee.
“However the parents are at liberty to pay the fee monthly or quarterly,” it said.
The committee said that with the re-opening of schools, various complaints were received alleging that the Private schools making hikes in the Transport fee.
“It is also alleged that the Private school managements are demanding payment of advance transport fee either for full session or 50% of the total fee. The Schools also seek an undertaking from the parents regarding advance payment of the fee.”
It said that the committee in its meeting decided that as a temporary measure and till such time a final decision is taken and Final orders issued, the school managements shall make a 12% hike on transport fee.
