On festive day, Girdhari Lal receives his daughter’s body

Panchari (Udhampur) Jan 13: When Country was celebrating Lohari festival , Girdhari Lal received the dead body of his daughter in mutilated condition at Saddal village and he is still waiting for the retrieval of one more body of his son.
After the recovery of this body today , total of 35 dead bodies have been retrieved so far while search for five more still continues at Saddal village of Panchari Tehsil in Udhampur district.
It was the intervening night of 6th and 7th September that the entire village came under heavy slide and 40 persons were buried alive and as evacuation work continued till date, six bodies are yet to be recovered.
“Out of seven of my family members buried under the debris, five had been recovered and body of my 12 years old daughter Sharda Devi has been recovered today morning. I am still waiting for the retrieval of my son’s body from the debris said Girdhari Lal.
There are others like Kapoor Singh and 84 years old Dhano Devi whose family members are still under the debris even as four months have passed by and rescue operation still continues in this remotest of remote village of Udhampur.
” As Government has totally failed to mitigate our problems, we are still at the mercy of God in these chilly weather conditions. Topmost leaders and bureaucrats are so busy today that they have even forgotten the name of this village , what to talk about the assurances they had given”, says Romesh Singh Sarpanch Panjar Panchayat wherein the Saddal village falls.
