Missing man’s corpse recovered after 8 yrs, 2 arrested

RAMBAN, Jan 13: Police recovered the corpse of a missing man and arrested two persons for pushing the victim to death from a hill top after looting him around eight years back.
As per police sources, a man identified as Ghulam Qadir, son of Aziz Lohar, a resident of Hala Dhandrath went missing on July 30, 2007.
His relative namely Mohammad Yousuf, son of Mohammad Sharief, a resident of Hala Dhandrath lodged a missing complaint with police station Ramban in this regard. Police registered a missing complaint and investigation started.
However, Mohammad Yousuf approached CJM on December 15, 2014 and the latter directed SSP Ramban Javed Iqbal Mattoo to investigate the case thoroughly.
On the direction of CJM, SSP Ramban constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by DySP Headquarters Narinder Parihar and comprising of SHO Ram ban Inspector Ajay Singh Chib, SI Padam Dev Singh, HC Abdul Hamid and SgCT Mohammad Iqbal.
During investigation, SIT rounded up several persons and during questioning one of the person namely Mohammad Sharief, son of Habi-ullah, a resident of Hala Dhandrath broke down and confessed that he along with other person namely Ghulam Nabi, son of Gani Padihar, a resident of Ketyour Gumad had murdered the victim by pushing him to death from Domi Gali top area. The accused further disclosed that they took the victim with them at Domi Gali Top and after looting him, they pushed him to death from the mountain top.
On their disclosure, police recovered the corpse of the missing man and sent the same to forensic lab.
A case under FIR number 3/15 under section 302, 201 and 120-B RPC has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
