SRINAGAR, Jan 13: Emphasizing for availability of basic amenities including food grains, supply of water and power besides expediting relief and rehabilitation measures for the flood affected people during the winter months, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal called for gearing up of administration at all levels to facilitate the people of the Valley and monitor the availability of essentials including food grains, kerosene oil and LPG to the consumers.
This was stated by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir in a meeting with Deputy Commissioners of all districts of the Valley and other concerned divisional level officers here today.
He enjoined upon officers to ensure all basic facilities to the people including smooth supply of power and food grains to the people of the Valley. He stressed for streamlining the distribution of kerosene oil, LPG and other essentials in view of the winter season.
He stressed upon the all Deputy Commissioners of the Valley to keep their men and machinery in the ready state to address any eventuality in case of snowfall.
The meeting was informed that as many as 109 snow cutters are available for clearance of snow for ensuring smooth plying of traffic on the roads during snowfall.
Regarding the availability of food grains, it was given out in the meeting that as many 3581 metric tons of rice, 152 metric tons of wheat, 302 metric tons of sugar are available with the department of CA&PD Kashmir while 44408 metric tons of rice and 12296 metric tons of wheat are available in the FCI godowns of the Valley.
While reviewing the functioning of Tuition Centres in the Valley, Div Com stressed for ensuring registration of these centres besides availability of requisite facilities to the students in these Tuition Centres.
He also exhorted upon the officers of Revenue Department for speedy rehabilitation of the flood affected families besides asked for intensifying the removal of encroachments in their respective districts.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the Valley, Director CA&PD Kashmir, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B, MED, Irrigation & Flood Control, representatives of gas agencies and National Highway Authority of India.
