JAMMU, Feb 17: The Federation Cup Power Lifting Championship for men and women and selection trials for the forthcoming Asian Power Lifting Championship was inaugurated by Minister for PHE and I&FC Sham Lal Choudhary at Amarnath Yatri Niwas, here today.
The championship has been orgby All J&K Power Lifting Association. Rajesh Tewari, President of Power Lifting India presided over the inaugural ceremony, while PJ Joseph, Arjuna Awardee, Secretary General, Roshan KV Basak, Treasurer, Satish Kumar, Secretary, DS Malli, Ajay Sharma, Secretary, All J&K Power Lifting Association and office bearers of Power Lifting India were also present.
In 59 kgs men category, P Suresh from Railways, Kuldeep Kumar from Uttrakhand and BImal Thapa from Maharashtra secured first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in 66 kgs men category, Arun S from Tamil Nadu, Abhijeet from Maharashtra and Balamurugan from Tamil Nadu bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In 74 kgs men category, Thamizharasan S from Puducherry, Mahendran P from Tamil Nadu and Dayananad Reddy from Telengana bagged first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in 83 kgs category, V Vimakraj from Railways, Vishwanath B from Karnataka and Pradeep Kumar from Karnataka secured first, second and third positions respectively.
