KCC registers win over SCC, lifts Police Friendship Tournament title

JAMMU, Feb 17: Khour Cricket Club (KCC) registered win over Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor in a super over and lifted the “Police Friendship Cricket Tournament for Rural Youths” title trophy at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, here today.
In the summit clash, KCC defeated SCC in a super over game. Batting first in the super over, KCC made 9 runs and in reply SCC made only 3 runs.
Earlier, SCC made 97 runs by losing all the wickets in 19.3 overs. Abhishant Bakshi scored 23 runs, while Sonu made 22 runs and Jimmy chipped in 14 runs.
From KCC side, Cheeku and Pankaj took 2 wickets each, while Rahul scalped 1 wicket.
In reply, KCC made 97 runs by losing all wickets in the 20 overs. The last batsman was declared as run out by umpire in the last ball of the last overs. Kavi Sharma and Billa were the main scorers with 42 and 22 runs respectively.
From SCC side, Sumit took 3 wickets, Sham Singh scalped 2 wickets while Sonu, Abhishant and Happy took 1 wicket each.
Kavi Sharma was declared as man of the match. Rahul Sharma and Sunil Kumar were declared as Best Batsman and Best Bowler respectively, whereas Rajinder was declared as Man of the Series.
On the valedictory function, Munish Anand SDPO Akhnoor was the chief huest who distributed the trophies and uniforms to the finalists team. While speaking on the occasion, SDPO advised the participating teams to never indulge in any sort of drugs and stay always fit and healthy and become a great inspiration for  the young generation.
The tournament was organized by District Police Jammu under the supervision of Vivek Gupta SSP Jammu and the slogan of the tournament was “Khelo Khel Bhulo Nasha”. The technical support during the tournament was also provided by Country Cricket Academy Gharota. whereas the organizing committee of the championship includes Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Raj Paul Singh DySP Headquarters Jammu, Munish Anand SDPO Akhnoor, DySP DAR Jammu, Gurmeet Singh SHO Gharota, Vivek Sharma, Sham Singh, Om Raj, Ajay Sharma and Taginder Singh.
The objective of the championship was to provide platform to the rural youths so that they can show case their hidden talent and to involve the young generation in sports activities so that they may not derail from the mainstream.
The umpires of the final match were Dayal and Ankit Sharma whereas the scorebook was maintained by Lakshya. The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by RP Singh.
