Fearing landslide, 6 houses vacated in Rajouri; over 100 passengers stranded

JAMMU: Fearing landslides, six houses have been vacated in the remote belt of Rajouri district, while over 100 passengers are stranded at general bus stand here.

“Families of at least six houses were shifted this afternoon to safer places at Kewal village in Budhal area of Rajouri, fearing landslides due to heavy rains,” police sources here said.

They said that under-construction road from Kewal to Targain village started caving-in due to the torrential rains, following which people were asked to move to safer places.

”We have vacated families of six residential houses in danger zone and people have been shifted to safer locations and district administration has been informed to make necessary arrangements for the affected families,” they added.

Meanwhile, due to closing of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, over 100 Kashmir-bound passengers are stranded at Jammu Bus Stand. (AGENCIES)
