FDP on Mathematics & its application in Science & Engineering begins at SMVDU

KATRA, Sept 27: A week- long faculty development program on “Mathematics and Its Applications in Science and Engineering” began at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, here today.
The program is being organized by Faculty Development Centre, SMVDU in collaboration with the School of Mathematics under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Training (PMMMNMTT) Scheme of Ministry of Education.
Padma Shri Prof Ravindra K Sinha, Vice Chancellor, SMVD University, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. He emphasized the importance of Mathematics in daily life and interdisciplinary research. He also highlighted the work and contribution of India Mathematicians.
Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Registrar SMVDU, was the guest of honor on the occasion. He deliberated how the conduct of such programs makes the motive of the University “Vigyanana Brahma” meaningful.
Dr Suparn Sharma, coordinator FDC, SMVDU and Dean, Faculty of Management briefed about the activities of the FDC, SMVDU. Prof Ashok K Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences graced the occasion with his presence in the inaugural session. Dr Uday Pratap Singh, Head, School of Mathematics and Convener of the FDP, outlined the focus and probable outcomes of the FDP. He also informed that 66 participants from various parts of the country are participating this FDP. The resource persons from the reputed Universities and IITs shall deliver the lectures.
Dr Vive K K Singh, Co-convener of the FDP presented the welcome address. Dr Kamni Pathania, School of Physics conducted proceedings of the inaugural session of the FDP and Dr Surender Singh, Coordinator of the FDP proposed the vote of thanks.
The FDP is expected to inculcate some new ideas of research among the participants. The participants from science and engineering streams are also expected to learn how Mathematics can be utilized in their teaching and research.
