JAMMU, Aug 18: Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department today suspended licenses of three Fair Price Shops in City Circle-I for irregularities in distribution of food grains.
In view of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha Festival, a team of officers of the Directorate comprising of Deputy Director Supplies, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Deputy Director, Food & Rationing Kulraj Singh, Assistant Directo,r Enforcement/Member Vigilance Monitoring Committee, Mukhter Ahmed, Assistant Director, City Circle-I, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi and Inspectors Raman Kumar, Yogesh Kumar, Pritpal Singh and Puneet Sharma, conducted random surprise checks in Fair Price Shops (FPS) falling under the jurisdiction of City Circle-I.
During inspection, the team found lot of irregularities in the distribution of food grains and non-maintenance of books of records and consequently suspended three FPS dealers namely Naresh Kumar (FPS Dealer-Paloura Depot No 227), Mansa Ram (FPS Dealer-Paloura Depot No 182) and Dharnter Singh (FPS Dealer-Paloura Depot No 370) with immediate effect.
The inspection was conducted on the directions of Director, FCS&CA Jammu, Amit Sharma, who also directed his officers to immediately transfer the ration of suspended dealers to nearest available dealers so that public faces no inconvenience in lifting monthly ration as per allotted quotas till their cases are settled.
Moreover, he directed FCS&CA teams and squads to conduct more such surprise drives in near future so that the ration supplies meant for BPL, PHH and such rationees reaches to last mile deserving persons in far flung areas of Jammu Division. He directed all ten Assistant Directors of Jammu to ensure same in letter and spirit.
The Director also issued an advisory to all erring dealers of Jammu Division to refrain from malpractices and exercise utmost honesty in distribution of ration amongst the deserving beneficiaries otherwise they would face more stern action for doing so in future.
