MENDHAR, June 25: The irate people of Harni and adjoining villages today blocked the road and protested against some goons who attacked the family of Munshi Khan of Harni with sharp edged weapons this morning causing them grievous injuries.
The protestors raising slogans against police accused it of total failure in protecting Musnhi Khan and his family members despite the pleas of one of the family members who rushed to Police Station and pleaded before the men on duty there to come to the rescue of the family who has been attacked by one Fateh Mohammed Khan and his sons.
The protestors said had the police rushed to the spot in time the situation could have been saved from taking a critical turn.
However later the SDPO Mendhar Amit Bhasin along with Naib Tehsildar, Mendhar, Mohammed Sagir Choudhary and SHO Mendhar visited the site of road blockade and assured the protestors that the Police would take action against the people responsible for attacking the family, the protestors lifted the blockade.
According to reports Munshi Khan and his other family members including his son Nazeem Khan and wife Begum Jan received grievous injuries on their person after they were attacked by Fateh Khan and his sons by sharp edged weapons this morning as the two families had a past rivalry on a piece of state land.
The injured were shifted to SDH Mendhar by people where from Munshi Khan and his son were shifted to GMC Jammu in a serious condition.
The Gursai Police has registered a case under FIR Number 43 US, 307/323, 147/148 RPC and started investigations. The Police has also registered an FIR against the protestors who blocked the road.
