Father killed, son injured in attack over land dispute; accused arrested

REASI, May 19: An elderly person died while his son was critically injured in a group clash over some land dispute at village Khayala in Jyotipuram under the jurisdiction of Reasi Police Station, here today.
Police has arrested five persons in this connection while the injured was undergoing treatment at District Hospital Reasi.
The deceased, identified as Ghulam Rasool (64) of Khayala, along with his son Mushtaq Ahmed, was ploughing his field with tractor when one Mir Hussain and eight others attacked the duo owing to some old rivalry over land dispute.
Both father and son sustained serious injuries in the assault and they were shifted to District Hospital Reasi where Ghulam Rasool was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries on way to Jammu.
On being informed, a Police team had rushed to the spot and after shifting the injured to hospital, a case FIR number 105/2019 u/s 341/307/323/147 RPC was registered, which was later converted into Section 302 following death of one of the injured.
A special team led by SHO Reasi, Insp Ashwani Sharma, alongwith SI Ravi Kumar and S I Purshotam Sharma, I/C PP Jyotipuram, launched a massive manhunt and apprehended five accused within hours of the incident.
Further investigation of the case is going on besides hunt to nab the other accused.
