Farooq tests +ve, PM extends best wishes for speedy recovery

Spurt in cases: 359 new infections in J&K

Srinagar/Jammu/Leh, Mar 30: National Conference president and Member Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah, was among 266 people who tested positive in Kashmir today.
Abdullah, 85, who received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on March 2 tested positive today. His son and former CM Omar Abdullah informed that he along with his family members will be self-isolating till they get tested.
“My father has tested positive for COVID-19 & is showing some symptoms. I will be self-isolating along with other family members until we get ourselves tested. I request anyone who has come in to contact with us over the last few days to take all the mandatory precautions,” Omar tweeted.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to Abdullah for a speedy recovery from COVID-19. Praying for the good health and speedy recovery of Dr. Farooq Abdullah Ji. Also praying for your and the entire family’s good health @OmarAbdullah,” he tweeted.
Omar replied to PM Modi, saying: “My father and the rest of the family join me in thanking you for your wishes and prayers @narendramodi ji.
Those who tested positive include 150 from Srinagar, 46 Baramulla, 19 Budgam, 12 Pulwama, 5 Kupwara, 10 Anantnag, 3 Bandipora, 5 Ganderbal, 14 Kulgam and 2 from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 77,719 including 74,786 recoveries and 1,255 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,293 including 1,678 from Kashmir division.
With 175 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 126,304, which is 96.72 percent of the total cases.
Jammu region too witnessed surge in COVID-19 cases with 93 persons testing positive for the virus, the highest being 59 in Jammu district and 19 in Kathua.
In other districts, Udhampur reproted seven cases, Poonch three, Ramban and Rajouri two each and Samba one.
Twenty persons recovered from Coronavirus, 10 of them in Jammu district, three each Kathua and Doda, two Udhampur and one each in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Among 52868 Corona cases, number of active positives has now surged to 615 as 51518 patients have recovered and there have been 735 casualties in Jammu region.
The fatalities include 381 in Jammu district followed by 64 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 41 Samba, 25 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi district.
