JAMMU, Nov 12: National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today met Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh and conveyed condolences on the death of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
In a brief chat with media persons after meeting Akhilesh, Farooq said he had come to Lucknow to condole death of Mulayam Singh Yadav and pay tribute to Netaji.
“Anything about making Akhilesh Yadav as the Prime Ministerial candidate can be said only after discussions at the All Party Meeting. I can’t say anything in this regard right now,” Farooq said in response to a question.
At the same time, he said, political meaning shouldn’t be drawn out of such meetings.
Farooq recalled his personal relationship with Mulayam Singh Yadav.
“His seat in the Parliament was also near us. He was our good friend,” Farooq remarked.
Farooq along with Congress leader Salman Khurshid also addressed a conclave on ‘Our Constitution and Civil Rights’ in Lucknow.
The conclave was organised by Indian Muslims for Civil Rights.
