RAJOURI, Apr 11: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organized one day Farmers’ Fair “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY)”.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament, Jammu-Poonch Constituency, was the chief guest on the occasion and Ravinder Raina, MLA Nowshera was the guest of honour. Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Chairman Pahari Board and Vibodh Gupta, MLC, Rajouri were also present.
The programme was conceived at the national level by Government of India to introduce and popularize the new scheme on crop insurance among farmers of the respective constituencies of Members of the Parliament.
Five hundred farmers and officials of line departments participated in the fair and discussed about their problems and also cleared their doubts about the new crop insurance scheme.
Jugal Kishore Sharma elaborated various initiatives started by the Government. He discussed in detail about crop Insurance and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sanchai Yojna. He also stressed on farmers to open valid bank account so that they may avail subsidies directly in their bank accounts. He also discussed various schemes which are aimed at bringing social upliftment.
Dr Karnail Singh Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu presented the welcome address and discussed university programmes being followed for upliftment of farmers. He discussed different ICAR, Schemes and also discussed Fasal Bima Yojna in detail.
Dr RK Arora, Associate Director Extension also detailed about the Schemes.
Des Raj, DDM, NABARD discussed bank’s schemes with the farmers and stressed on formation of SHGs and FIGs.
A nukkad natak was also presented for passing the messages to the farmer folks.
Representative of IFFCO-TOKIO insurance company, Amit Wali made a presentation of crop insurance scheme.
Dr Parul Gupta, SMS and Dr Vishal Sharma, SMS organized the exhibition and field visits for the farmers.
Dr Vikas Tandon, senior Scientist and Head, presented the initiatives being taken by the KVK, Rajouri in the district.
The progressive farmers from different blocks were felicitated by the MP.
In the end, Dr Arvind Ishar presented the vote of thanks.
