REASI, Sept 24: The famous Siyad Baba waterfall–one of the biggest waterfalls in North India is in very deplorable condition.
This famous waterfall located in Talwara Village of Reasi known as Siyad Baba is one of the place in Jammu and Kashmir where beauty of nature at its best. Tourists who came to visit Mata Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori also like to see the beauty of Siyad Baba waterfall.
It enjoys the status of one of the biggest waterfall in North India. Located on the Chenab River in Reasi District standing at an elevation of 466 meters, it descends from over 100 feet making a spectacular view.
According to the locals, approximately 1 lakh tourist outside from Reasi visit here every year and it is also helping them feeding their children.
“Everyone is happy. The locals and outsiders are enjoying the beauty of Siyad Baba waterfall from years. But on 15 July 2018, 7 tourists died and 34 others were injured as the boulder and other debris fell on them from a height of over 100 feet”, they said.
“The whole scenario of one of the biggest waterfall in North India is changed from that day as outsiders and locals don’t want to visit the Baba Siyad waterfall and feels scary when they come. As the time passes people are starting to forget what happen on 15 July and showing their interest towards this beautiful Waterfall but the condition of the whole place is very bad”, the locals added.
The poor people’s who have their small Businesses in Siyad Baba are in tough situation from past 2 years. Siyad Baba waterfall is losing its glory due to the silence of local Administration and J&K Tourism Department.
Siyad Baba waterfall needs immediate renovation so that after pandemic when people visit there, they enjoy their visit, the locals added.
