LEH (LADAKH), Apr 26: Demanding early release of their long pending salary, the Health Department Family Welfare Bureau and Sub Centre Plan sit on daylong dharna in Leh today. The agitated staff alleged that they have not been paid since a year thus facing great difficulties and challenges to sustain their families
Dy Chief Medical Officer in a recent letter No DFWB/L/38-43 dated 18-04-2017 addressed to Director Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization J&K appraising the situation and said that by not releasing the salaries on time the entire staff of Family Welfare Bureau and Sub Centre plan may go for indefinite strike.
Driver Abdul Rehman sitting in the dharna said that they are facing huge challenges and difficulties to run daily activities even not able to pay their children school fee as the result their children are getting warnings from schools. He alleged that they have been running from pillar to post to get their dues release but all in vain and warned that if the issue is not resolved they might intensify the agitation including stopping the vaccine programme.
He said that SNM Hospital staff also extended support to their dharna by wearing black ribbon to show their resentment. He also added that they have taken Bank consumption loan which they couldn’t repay on time.
Dy CMO Dr.Motup Dorjay said since last year February salary of Family Bureau and Sub Centre amounting to Rs.one Crore and 21 lacs is pending and Director Family Welfare is well aware of it. He added that the fund is supposed to be released from the Central Government and efforts have been made at all level to release the salary. He also informed that this is not only case in the Leh District but there are same situation in the entire State and Health Minister is well aware of it. Responding to query Dr. Motup said that inspite of not getting salary all staffs are working dedicatedly and so far works have not been suffered.
