Family members protest for high level inquiry as missing man found dead

UDHAMPUR, Jan 3: As a young man, missing for the last 18 days, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Golf Ground pond in Army area Garhi Udhampur, here today, the family members and relatives of the deceased held a massive protest demonstration seeking high level probe into death of the deceased.
The protesting people, carrying body of deceased Rakesh Kumar Sharma (32), son of Tara Mani, resident of Jib Udhampur, blocked the Udhampur-Jammu National Highway near Chinar for three hours today.
The deceased was a Temporary employee of the Golf Ground and had been missing since December 18, last. The family members had also lodged a missing complaint in this regard at Police Station Rehambel on December 19.
While talking to media persons, Arun Sharma, brother of the deceased, said that there were scratches and marks of injury on the body besides bleeding from the nose. Alleging that his brother was apparently murdered, he demanded a high level inquiry into the case.
The protest demonstration and the road blockage continued for around three hours till Additional SP Udhampur, Tabassum Praveen and ACR Udhampur along with other officials personally reached the spot and assured that necessary action would be taken for a high level enquiry.
