Chrungoo, others take up issue with Govt

JAMMU, June 21: Smelling a rat in the death of their kids, the family members of Rinku Raja an employee of Tourism Department and Sanjana a rafter who died in Pahalgam on June 18 after their boat capsized in river Lidder during rafting demanded a judicial probe into the matter. The father of Rinku Raja, Moti Lal Pandita and father of Sanjana a rafter from Reasi, Surinder Kumar said that how the department allowed the rafting after closure of days by allowing the employees and other participants to take part in it.
Moreover, the families are not aware whether the police has registered the FIR in the case or not.
Contesting the claims of the department, a shell -shocked wife of Rinku Raja, Bindu Handoo Pandita said that how the Department allowed the rafting in Pahalgam when they did not have proper mechanism and technical know how? This means that the department is playing with the lives of people.
She said her husband did not know ABC about swimming and how he was allowed to take part in rafting is a question which needs answer.
Father of Sanjana, Surinder Kumar said they don’t know any thing what actually happened as they were not present on the spot. However, when the rafting was closed how were they allowed to go for the rafting again. Moreover, when the department did not have expertise why it started rafting in a furious river like Lidder, he asked?.
Meanwhile, BJP State spokesperson, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, MLC, G L Raina and former MLA Kokernag and PDP leader , Abdul Rahim Rather and ex MLA Batmaloo, Srinagar visited the house of Rinku Raja to condole the death. They assured the family to take up the issue with Government.
In a statement issued later, Ashwani Chrungoo said there is a general perception that some fishy things are connected with the incident which led to some doubts about it. He demanded a judicial probe into the matter so that the facts are ascertained and doubts cleared.
