Billawar Kandi belt faces water, power crisis: MLC

KATHUA, June 21: Senior Congress leader and Member Legislative Council, Thakur Balbir Singh has alleged that Kandi belt of Billawar was facing severe water and power crisis during these hot summer days.
The Congress MLC, who conducted extensive tour of this belt including Mangloor, Dinga Amb, Nagrota Gujru, Mandli and some other adjoining areas in district Kathua expressed strong resentment over the indifferent attitude of the authorities and said that at many places water pumping stations and electric transformers/ dedicated feeders are lying out of order for the weeks and the concerned authorities have failed to repair or replace the same.
He said during his visit, the people raised their issues strongly and alleged that no alternate arrangements have been made by the PHE authorities to provide drinking water through tankers. At some places, the people projected the issue of road and lanes and he took up the matter with the concerned authorities.
The Congress leader alleged that Governor’s administration has virtually failed to provide basic essential services to the people during these hot summer days. The power failure has also badly affected water supply. He sought the intervention of the Advisors concerned and stressed that they must hold public Darbar at the District and Sub Division level to address the burning issues of the public.
