JAMMU, Mar 3: Gandhi Nagar police busted fake gun licences racket with the arrest of two persons and recovery of stamps of Army and civil administration officers.
As per police sources, a credible information was received yesterday by Gandhi Nagar Police Station that some persons were indulging in preparing fake and forged gun licences by using the stamps of Army and civil administration thereby causing huge loss to the State exchequer and cheating the general public.
Acting over the information, a case under FIR Number 54/18 under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471 RPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station picked up two persons from Preet Nagar area, who during questioning confessed that they used to prepare fake and forged gun licences.
Police arrested both the accused, who have been identified as Taranjeet Singh, son of late Gurcharan Singh of Bhalla Enclave Channi Hirnmat and Satinder Singh, son of Manjeet Singh of Preet Nagar Digiana.
From their possession, around 52 prepared gun licences, hundreds of blank licence forms and few stamps of Army and civil administration officers were recovered.
The investigation of the case is going on and involvement of some other persons cannot be ruled out yet.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
