JAMMU, Apr 15: A delegation of Federation of Automobiles Dealers Associations (FADA) Jammu led by Sanjay Aggarwal, FADA chairperson met Vishesh Paul, Transport Commissioner J&K and discussed the issues and challenges faced by automobile dealers.
Aggarwal was accompanied by FADA Jammu Regional Directors-Sanjay Mahajan, Manik Batra, Ravinder Gandotra, Prateek Jain, Ashish Gupta, Vikas Rathore, Kanav Aggarwal, Pradeep Jain, Sumit Malhotra, Atul Abrol and Rohan Kotwal.
Anju Gupta, Additional Commissioner, Vikas Anand Joint Commissioner, Jasmeet Singh, RTO Jammu, Qazi Irfan, RTO Kashmir and other officials of Transport Department were also present in the meeting.
Aggarwal raised the issue of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) which are coming for re-registration from other States to J&K and said that a Green Tax @ 10 per cent on such unsafe and unfit polluting vehicles should be imposed.
He demanded revisiting of the EV policy for J&K and expanding its scope to include Strong Hybrid and CNG vehicles. The FADA leader also shared that VAT % on CNG needs to be looked into.
Aggarwal said that RVSF centers in J&K should be opened at the earliest as the consumers are currently unable to avail the benefits of scrapping their ELVs in J&K.
He raised the issue of delay in RC transfer for used cars in J&K and said that there should be a fixed timeline to approve/reject an application from RTO in this regard.
The FADA leader also suggested that the transfer of Registration Certificates (RCs) for used cars be facilitated at the dealership level.
He further said that Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) approval for commercial vehicles should be made online form ARTO end and the dealer should be allowed to make delivery of the vehicle after fixing number plate and the process of VLTD approval & RC should be made in grace period of 15 days.
Aggarwal also demanded 50 per cent discount on registration of vehicles by organising Mega Trade Fairs.
Other demands included formation of Automobile Service Center Clusters in J&K.
The Transport Commissioner said the issues discussed are quite relevant and will be given due consideration. He directed the delegation to adhere to all the norms while selling the vehicles and follow all the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.
He also requested all the dealers to create awareness among their customers regarding road safety measures.
