RAJOURI, May 2: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) here today organized an extension lecture on ‘Persian Language and Literature in Pir Panjal Region: A Historical Overview and Its Impact on Tribal Languages.’
BGSBU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, attended the event as chief guest and highlighted that Persian language and literature are deeply rooted in India, particularly in J&K.
Dr. Manzar Alam, Coordinator of the Persian Programme, delivered welcome address.
The special guest was Khurshid Bismil, a noted literary figure and he elaborated on the ethical, cultural and historical richness of Persian literature.
The guest speaker, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Persian, PG College Rajouri, presented a detailed lecture on the topic.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum, Associate Dean, School of Humanities and Languages.
Several distinguished faculty members who spoke on the occasion were Dr. Layaqat Nayyar, Dr. Sajjad, Dr. Dilpazeer, Dr. Rizwana Shamsi, Dr. Naseem Gul, Dr. Ibrahim, Dr. Tanvir Ahmed, Shabeena (Deputy Registrar Academic Affairs), Dr. Kousar Jafri, Dr. Ramzan Ahmed, Dr. Akhter Hussain and Dr. Yaseen Kambay from the Persian Programme.
The programme was conducted by Mehpara Syed, a fourth-semester student of M.A Persian.
