Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘6 killed in thunder, windstorm in Jammu’ DE June 8.
The windstorm that swept across swathes of Jammu region caused extensive damage to people and property. The death of six people in this devastating storm is irreparable and beyond consolation.
The damage to property which include houses, cowsheds and other structures is of great magnitude.
Mere extending sympathies to families of victims by people and politicians will not help them in any way. Rather, Government must frame a contingency plan to extend all sort of relief-cash and kind at this hour of distress. Medical teams and Revenue officials should be dispatched at once to these areas to extend medical assistance to people and to assess loss suffered by poor villagers. There should be no delay on part of the authorities in extending relief to the affected families.
Yours etc…
Veer Singh
