JAMMU, Sept 20: Under the banner of the Atam Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the Agriculture Production & farmers Welfare Department, District Jammu organized two days District Level Seminar-cum-Awareness Program on the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) sponsored by National Bee Board which successfully concluded today at Kisan Kendra Jammu with the central agenda of promoting the ‘Sweet Revolution’ in the District.
The event was aimed at promoting honey production, capacity building, farmers training particularly women self help groups, skill development, employement generation to mention a few.
Technical Session was conducted by experts. Dr. Bhupinder Gupta (Assistant Entomologist Jammu), Dr. D.P. Abrol (Retd. Dean SKUAST-J), Vikas Koshal District Level SMS ,Dr. Davinder Sharma (A.P. SKUAST-J) and Dr. Ashu Kakoria DAO (Ext.) Jammu.
During the programme various topics were covered like Scientific Management of Bee Colonies,
prospectus and potential of Beekeeping, Processing and Value Addition of Honey. Various Schemes available for promotion of Beekeeping were discussed during the seminar and the existing Beekeepers also shared their experience with potential Beekeepers.
Healthy interaction of Beekeepers and resource persons remained the highlight of the seminar. At the end certificates of appreciation and participation were also distributed among various stakeholders for their praiseworthy contribution in the field of Beekeeping.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by CAO Jammu Vinod K. Kundal.
