JAMMU, Dec 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has urged upon the State Government to expedite the process of disbursement of package to displaced persons/ refugees of 1947 from PoK and others.
In a meeting of the Action Committee held at Purkhoo in March block today under the chairmanship of senior vice president, HS Raina, the displaced members expressed their satisfaction over the decision taken by the BJP-PDP Govt in the Cabinet for including the issues of DPs of 1947 from PoK in Governor’s address. The members in the meeting urged upon the State Govt to expedite the process of disbursement of PM package out of Rs 2000 crore to the DP families.
Addressing the meeting, Raina along with Netar Parkash and Rajesh Khajuria expressed their gratitude to the alliance Govt for clarifying the instant package as the first installment but not the final. They pointed out that silence of the Govt over the non-clarification regarding the total quantum and other components has created confusion in the minds of DPs.
The refugee leader further said that the Government should adopt comprehensive, transparent and easy measures for the fast disbursement of the package otherwise, it will take several years for the same , as it is evident from the fact that package provided by the Central Govt during August 2000 in lieu of land deficiency has not been still disbursed. He said that Govt should implement the JPC recommendations.
