Exhibition Ground to be developed as Jammu Trade Centre: Dwivedi

JAMMU, Mar 16: Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, today visited Exhibition Ground, Jammu to work out and discuss an Integrated Development Plan to convert existing Exhibition Ground Complex as a state of art Jammu Trade Centre.
‘Jammu Trade Centre will act as nerve centre for development of all kind of industry and trade activities by converging all the department’s activities and providing platform for traders showcasing their products through exhibitions and trade events throughout year. It will give boost to trade of local artisans, weavers and industry and will improve the global competitiveness of Jammu & Kashmir products’, maintained the Commissioner Secretary.
MD, JKTPO, Ravinder Kumar, MD, SICOP Atul Sharma, Director Planning Shabir Ahmed, Joint Director (M&P) Industries & Commerce, Jammu Trishla Kumari, GM DIC, Jammu (Estate Officer), Subah Mehta, and other officers of Industries & Commerce Department were present on the occasion.
During the visit, Commissioner Secretary was apprised of infrastructure being created for the Women Entrepreneur Development Institute and related activities. He directed officers for making joint development plan to utilize the developed space in the Women EDI building. The building will have Women EDI office, Incubation Centre for Women Entrepreneurs, Industrial stalls, rented exhibition stalls, Food Courts, Industrial Stalls, auditorium and management offices, he added.
While giving the vision for development of Central Place in the Exhibition Ground, Commissioner Secretary directed that unsafe structures be demolished and proper land scaping be done, Tawi River side area to be developed on the pattern of River Front. Jammu Haat will be developed with modern amenities on the pattern of Delhi Haat with proper open space, parking space, Food Court, Industrial Stalls etc, he added.
He further directed that a proper space for different existing offices on the available land be identified and a new fresh building be constructed for DIC Jammu which will also house the other offices situated at Exhibition Ground Jammu.
Dwivedi issued on spot directions to the concerned officers of JK TPO, SICOP and other HODs that no further alteration /construction of the complex shall be undertaken without finalization of Integrated Development Plan of Exhibition Ground and GM DIC Jammu to monitor and supervise the ongoing works.
He directed the officers of Industries & Commerce Department for making a detailed presentation in consultation with professionals and stakeholder departments for discussion and finalization of Integrated Development Plan for Jammu Trade Centre within 15 days.
