Excise Deptt books 2, destroys 1400 kgs of lahan, 2 stills

KATHUA, July 21: Excise Department today booked two persons for sale of illicit liquor under section 48 (a) of Excise Act and destroyed 1400 kgs of lahan, two working stills and 40 bottles of illicit liquor during different raids carried out by it in various areas of Kathua district.
The raids were conducted in the villages of Banyari Birsochak, Sunjwan, Bakral Colony, Chartyala and Chhibachak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit liquor.
During the raids two persons namely Baby W/o Vijay Kumar of Birsochak, Hiranagar and Nazma D/o Mahinder Pal also a resident of Birsochak were booked under Section 48 (a) of J&K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor.
The raids were carried under the direction of Excise Commissioner, Mohammed Javed Khan and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Syed Muried Hussian Shah by the Excise team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, Inspector Excise Arun Kumar and Shadi Lal along with other Excise staff.
