JAMMU, Sept 4: Continuing their protest against delay in implementation of One Rank One Pension, ex-servicemen and their family members took out candle light march in the State for the third consecutive day on Friday.
Ex-servicemen and their family members form Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Cantt and Sainik Colony assembled at Kunjwani Chowk in support of the relay hunger strike and fast on to death at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
Briefing the veterans,  president of the ex-servicemen League,  Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal informed that the  Government was  being pressurized by the public, the press and even RSS to expedite the decision as ongoing protest by the defenders of the Country is not good for the Nation which is beset with problems being created by our neighbours particularly in J&K State where Pakistan is shelling and firing the ex-servicemen in the villages along the border while they are protesting with candle lights in their hands for their legitimate demands which have been accepted by the Prime Minister and the Parliament.
He said that every day’s delay is eroding the Soldiers’ faith in the Govt, which must be avoided. He also informed that similar protests are being held at various places from Ladakh to Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri and Kathua.
Brig S S Sambyal, senior vice president of the League, informed the gathering about the programme being held elsewhere in India and the progress at Jantar Mantar where the protest has entered 82nd day.
