JAMMU, Nov 16: Ex-Policemen Welfare League held a meeting under the chairmanship of Om Parkash Sharma, in which various issues pertaining to the retired police personnel were discussed.
While speaking, Sharma demanded 15 per cent reservation in the recruitment process in favour of wards of police personnel including the wards of retired police personnel.
He further added that there should be provision for re-imbursement of medical bills of treatment of retired police personnel.
Sharma said that sons of some retired police personnel were to be engaged as SPOs, but till date nothing has been done in this regard.
He expressed his resentment over the reservation policy for giving benefits in appointment and in every promotion upto gazetted rank in respect of candidates which come under reserve category.
In case of marriages of daughters of retired police personnel, financial assistance should be provided from welfare funds of Police Department, he asserted.
Sharma informed that the League will take up these demands with DGP for early redressal.
