Ex-MP seeks three LS seats for Jammu

JAMMU, July 12: Former Member of Parliament (MP) Sheikh Abdul Rehman today demanded inclusion of Ghagwal and Rajpura blocks in Samba and creation of new Assembly constituency of Bari Brahmana in Samba district and its reservation for Scheduled Tribes.
In a statement, he also demanded clubbing of Sub Divisions of Thathri and Gandoh along with areas of Mahala, Varsala and Jatheli and creation of Thathri Assembly constituency.
Rehman demanded creation of Rajbagh Assembly segment in Kathua district by restoring the areas of Tehsil Kathua and Tehsil Hiranagar, Dinga Amb and Lakhanpur in Billawar and Basohli constituencies.
He said with a view to develop bod picket areas and foothills of Doodu, Basantgarh, Latti etc, a new Assembly segment should be created in Udhampur district while Panchari area of Chenani be shifted to Udhampur seat.
Rehman said three new constituencies should be created in hilly areas of Kupwara and Anantnag in Kashmir.
He demanded that Lok Sabha seats of Jammu region should be increased to three-one with Jammu Kathua and Samba districts (reserved for SCs), second with Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and Udhampur districts and third with Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts to be reserved for STs.
