JAMMU, Apr 16: JKPCC chief spokesperson and former MLC, Ravinder Sharma has expressed strong resentment over the neglect of Sunderbani and Nowshera border belt in the fresh Railway survey to Rajouri- Poonch and termed it totally wrong and demanded inclusion of the vast area in the railway connectivity.
In a statement JKPCC senior leader has said that by passing Sunderbani in the Railway link would be highly regretful and injustice to the vast border area which faced and bore the brunt of three wars. Instead, he has suggested a link from Katra- Reasi to already proposed Jammu – Poonch railway link via Akhnoor, Sunderbani – Rajouri, be given to cover entire area and vast population.
Reacting to the reports in the media about the realignment of the proposed Railway link to Rajouri- Poonch neglecting the Akhnoor- Sunderban- Nowshera border belt, Sharma demanded detailed clarification and necessary rectifications in this regard from the Central Government.
He said that people are awaiting the Railway connectivity in this border belt for decades and the survey in this regard was conducted in 2012 on the initiative of Rahul Gandhi. However, project was slowed down after 2014 and now there are reports of by passing a major border belt.
The Railway Ministry has sanctioned multiple Railway links in Kashmir valley for better connectivity besides the economic prosperity and overall development, which is appreciable and demanded that on the same analogy, there should be more links to Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, while connecting it with Katra also. He asked the ruling party leaders and representatives from Jammu & Kashmir at the Centre to raise the voice of people and ensure that no injustice is done to the people of this border areas who deserve railway connectivity.
