Ex-CJ of J&K passes away

SRINAGAR, Sept 21:  Former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mian Mufti Jalal-ud-Din passed away here today. He was 92.
According to family, Mian Jalal-ud-Din breathed his last at his ancestral residence at Baghat-e-Barzulla in the city outskirts.
A large number of people joined the Nimaz Jinazah  of Mian Jalal-ud-Din.
Jalal-ud-Din did his MA in Economic and later LLB from Aligrah Muslim University in 1939.     He joined as advocate in Jammu and Kashmir High Court in 1941 and joined  freedom movement.
He represented J&K in all India States People’s Conference at Udaipur in 1945.
He remained associated with several panels.     He served as Chief Justice from from February 15, 1978 to February 22, 1980 before his retirement.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, expressed grief over the demise of Mian Mufti Jalal-ud-Din.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described late Mufti Jalal-ud-Din as an authority over matters of jurisprudence. He said in his death the state has lost a great statesman who contributed immensely in the field of judiciary and rose to occupy the chair of Chief Justice of J&K State.
Mufti Sayeed conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
