Jammu, Feb 23: Congress has asked the PDP and BJP to shun public posturing and come out clear on the issue of Government formation in the State as people were suffering because of the political un-certainty.
Addressing party workers at Chatha today, former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla said that ensuring safety of lives and properties, restoring dignity and honour of all persons in the State should be the fore most concern of the Government. The previous Coalition Government of PDP-BJP miserably failed to take all possible measures to protect all the people in the State.
Government should give top priority to the preparation of an employment oriented medium term development plan laying particular emphasis on the development of agriculture, horticulture, handicrafts, tourism, information technology, food processing and environment friendly industrial activities. He said efforts should be made to evolve a development strategy, which provides at least one productive job to each family.
Mr Bhalla demanded high priority for the development of power resources in the State and cover all the left out villages under electrification project. The State Government should ask the Centre to ensure that the power generation in the State should be available to the maximum extent for meeting the needs of the State.
The Congress leader further demanded special emphasis on provision of safe drinking water, sanitation, rural roads, primary health care and elementary education and school buildings. Mr Bhalla suggested for comprehensive plan for the development of environment friendly tourism in all the three regions of the State. Special measures be taken to facilitate and protect pilgrim related tourism, he added.
Bhalla alleged that people have been pushed to a situation of confusion and chaos because of the delay caused in Govt formation. He said while the coalition partners (BJP-PDP) claimed that their alliance was intact and no fresh conditions, then they are answerable to the people as to why this public posturing. He said people of the State can no longer be befooled by self-created controversies and situation of political un-certainty leading to imposition of Governor Rule.
